National Anthem

Today's story is a bit on the shorter side. Enjoy!
So, a little backstory, ever since I can remember, I've loved writing, dance, music, and singing. I used to write songs to let out my frustrations. I kept a journal for a while during Covid and now I have my blog. Singing has also been a passion, as I was in choir as a kid and teen. Now for a little backstory of the title, when I was a pre-teen, my parents owned a basketball team. The Little Rock Lightning. (Which is sadly no more.) At one of these games, I sang the National Anthem.
For a week or so, I had been preparing for my big performance. My mom helped me and showed me one of the best National Anthem performances, Whitney Houston, for reference. When the night came around, I was stupid nervous, I nearly didn't do it. My mom had a recording as backup just in case but was confident I could do it. My name was announced; I was shaking so intensely as I stumbled my way through our National Anthem. Once it was over, I felt I did pretty good but was happy it was over.
I'm proud of myself for doing this at my little age. Mind you, I never did it again, they played the recording for the remainder of the season, but the crowd applauding and telling me, "Great job!" made me feel great. I can't believe how bold I was and I hope that continues with me throughout my life. This is such a fond memory for me now. When was a time you couldn't believe your own boldness? Let me know in the comments. Until next time. Bye!
P.S. A part that still makes me laugh is on the "that our flag was still there" moment, my voice dipped so low and deep when singing FLAG, that it was like I was on a rollercoaster, sitting in the U of the coaster and then coming back up again.
