Dance Studio: Awkward

I started dance classes when I was around 8 years old. I went to a place called Shuffles, which was nice but pretty stuffy. Their goal was to mold the next professional dancers. The Misty Copelands of the world. I just loved dancing; I didn't want to become a professional.
So I was only at that studio for about 2 years.
After this I didn't dance for a few years, but I got the itch for it again. So, we went on the hunt for a new studio. Mind you it was in the middle of the season, so not many places would take me. One dance studio finally did though, and I danced here for 5 years until it sadly closed. This was exactly what we were looking for, laid back and dancing for the enjoyment and fun of it.
I was so anxiety ridden as a teenager that I didn't talk to others in my class for a solid year. Everyone thought I was mute. Anyway, that is not what I'm talking about today. I'm going to be talking about the first day we walked in. We pulled up and I was nervous. (like I always was) Once we walked in the door, my mom stopped dead in her tracks. My dad was with us, so he and I stopped too. All my mom said was, "Oh my gosh." We asked her what was wrong.
The problem was that she knew the person working the front desk. This woman was someone we had gone to church with. She had actually been the choir director. (Of all the dance studios in all the world, of course she worked for this one.) I digress, she caused many problems within the church. From lying to gossiping. The biggest issue was her stealing from them. She had been stealing money for years but never actually went to jail. She just stopped showing up.
She had a look of recognition on her face when we went up to pay. She kept it professional and acted like she didn't know us. It was pretty awkward though for the next couple years though, seeing her every week. Her daughter also danced there. Both of them didn't like us much. Thankfully they just pretended we didn't exist, and we did the same.
Funny enough, we found out once she was fired, that she had been stealing from the studio as well. She was taking just enough so it wouldn't be noticeable. Keeping her purse under the desk and slipping money in whenever she would collect it. Interesting, once a thief always a thief.
Thanks for reading. Until next time. Bye!
