Medieval Times and a renaissance festival are two things I had never experienced, until my 21st birthday. The perfect way to celebrate coming of age and growing into an adult. I was lucky they were even operating seeing as it wasn't even a full year after the shutdowns for Covid-19. Here, I will be telling you about Medieval Times. I will be doing a separate on the renaissance festival.
Starting our journey, we drove to Texas in a car that had birthday messages like "looks who's 21," and "Happy Birthday Sydney" all over it. We were themed to the max with this birthday. We stayed in a suite at the Renaissance hotel, had a castle cake (made by a contestant from Holiday Baking Championship because I'm a cooking show geek), got blow up dragons/medieval like decorations, and went to a renaissance festival the next day.
The day of my birthday I woke up stoked. So, I got all ready and we headed down to get some breakfast. My first legal drink was a mimosa. (Fancy, pinkies up) While waiting for the main event that night, my family and I shopped around a store called the British Emporium, (got some good snacks), then picked up my cake. This cake was white "brick" with red roses and a big 21 in the middle. Absolutely beautiful!
Afterwards, we were off to Medieval Times. We met up with friends, got our crowns, and eagerly waited to go inside. Once in, we found out we were on the red and yellow side. They even announced my birthday over the speakers. It was the best! His lordship gave a short speech, and the fighting began.
Our guy wasn't the greatest, he died pretty early on actually, but the green knight turned out to be the bad guy. (Oops, spoiler!) This was a shock to us all. During the fights, my dad and I screamed like Jim Carrey from Cable Guy. Even though we were half of the "Red Knights going down." We all waved our flags aggressively and yelled like savages. Highly recommend, especially for a little screaming therapy!
We went back to hotel, ate cake and sang "Happy Birthday to me!" Was a great night that made me completely horse! It's a great place for a special event, or a fun night out. Until next time. Bye!
Fun fact: Medieval Times was founded in 1983.
