First Disney trip: Waterlogged

I'd never visited Walt Disney World until I was a teenager. I'd also never been to Florida until then either. One of the reasons I did not go to Disney younger was because I had a paralyzing fear of people in mascot style costumes. (Also, clowns, hated them, still do) My mom went to visit a friend in California and got free tickets to Disney Land. She remembered there being characters walking all throughout the park. Knowing this she believed Disney World would be the same.
I digress, the reason we even considered going to Disney was because of the studio I danced at. Our first day was in Hollywood Studios. We were able to see the last ever Star Wars weekend. Right as you entered the park, there were Stormtroopers on these elevated segway type contraptions. It was equally intimidating and awesome. We met Darth Vader and Boba Fett at the Syfy diner. This was set up drive-in style where you eat your breakfast in retro style cars. They also played Star Wars clips on a giant screen. There were so many beloved characters, Jedi Mickey, Princess Leia Minnie, Luke (of course), Chewbacca, Darth Vader, etc. There was a huge warehouse as well with rooms upon rooms of Star Wars merchandise, themed treats and more.
But let's not talk about the great parts of the trip. Let's get into what you came here for, the mishaps. The first being the condo room we were staying in. We'd had a long, fun filled day at the park and were getting into our room as we heard the sound of running water. (Strike one) When we stepped inside there was a lovely waterfall flooding our room. The bathtub faucet had been left on in the room above. There was so much water on the floor. This had been running for so long, that the paint on the walls began to bubble with water underneath it. We touched one and it literally burst. Our suitcases and clothes were completely soaked while our friend's room was dry. (Strike two) So we moved rooms, did laundry, ate a late dinner (deep dish pizza), and went to bed. This night was over or so we thought.
Once we were all nice of comfortable, our friend woke us up to tell us that the room had flooded once again. (Strike three and we're out.) My mom was so frustrated. She thought Tammy was messing with her. But once her feet hit the floor, she knew it was real. Thankfully our freshly cleaned clothes stayed dry, but the floor of the entire room did not. Tammy's daughter even came out saying how "she needed her beautiful sleep." So, we moved rooms.... again. We fortunately didn't have to leave this room.
Next up were the horrible blisters from trekking from one ride, with fast pass, (RIP) of Magic Kingdom back to the other side of the park. This caused my mom to develop massive blisters on the bottoms of her feet. Carrying too much was a problem too. Just so you are aware you don't have to pack your entire house into a backpack to walk around Disney for 7 hours. We were not aware of this. So, we lugged bug spray, sunscreen, giant wallets, umbrellas, maps, etc.
Besides these mishaps, our first trip to Disney was a blast. We got to see some now extinct things like The Great Movie Ride, the San Francisco skyline, Primeval Whirl, or as we nicknamed it "The Boob Crusher" and more. Now we've been going every year since 2015 and live here. I'll have to share the moving story with you. But that's for another day! ;)
Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed. Until next time. Bye!
