You may not believe me, but I have almost died four times. And before you ask, "No, I am not a witch whose sworn herself to another worldly being to live forever." (But I am a mind reader I know you were thinking it.) Just the fortune of life. In part one, I will be sharing you the first two times I almost died.
To get started, my first near death experience was when I was 8 years old. I've had eczema my whole life, my itching was especially bad when I was a kid. The back of my left leg was bothering me, and a dime sized sore started to appear. I picked and scratched, picked and scratched. Therefore, my itch happy 2nd grade self was in for a world of hurt. This coupled with one sweaty car back seat and I was unhappily introduced to a MRSA infection. YAY... Now on top of that I was what they refer to as a "Drama Queen." So, my mom could never know if I was in serious pain or just acting. When it began feeling more painful and I couldn't walk, we knew something was very wrong.
We arrived at the hospital to which I had to be wheeled in the doors. I was unable to put any pressure on my leg. Check in was horrible but nothing could have prepared me for "THE DRAINING PROCESS." Yep, sounds disgusting and feels even worse. The doctor comes in and tells us the infected area needs to be DRAINED. Cut to me lying face down on the doctors table, my mom holding me down, me screaming bloody murder. The doctor squeezed on my open wound and as my mom recalls a long, black centipede like substance came out of my leg. It was so painful. My mom was told I could have been dead within 24 hours. I have no words. What I do have is my life and I am grateful for that. I also have a little scar on the back of my leg.
On a lighter note, stepping back into the waiting room was funny. When I walked into the doctors ro0m, all the kids were playing and having a good time, when I stepped out that happiness had ceased. Replaced with fear and them wanting to run for their lives.
Next up we're coming to you live (11 years ago) from Texas. I was in the 6th grade and on a school field trip in beautiful San Antonio, Texas. We flew there, my mom literally cried her eyes out as she waved me off. We stayed for about a week, explored the Alamo, walked the River Walk, hilariously went to the Rain Forest Cafe, saw Shamu at Sea World, and visited a water park. This park is where my second near death story takes place.
We spent a full day swimming and having the best time. My friends and I were lounging in a lazy river, and they decided to get out, I stayed in. I was floating along when I came to a particular section of this river where you could get an inflatable tube and be water slided (it is a word, look it up) into the river. As I was making my way around, closing in on the slide area, the water came bubbling out and I went halfway under the slide. I was unable to reach the surface for what felt like hours. I came up coughing and was happy I was ok. Needless to say, I was done with that lazy river believe you me.
I feel very thankful to say these were all near death experiences. I know there are some that are not so lucky. I appreciate you reading and hope to hear stories from your life. Until next time, bye!
