Covid Birthday

We all know what happened in 2020. One of the most unexpected years of our lives! This was a disease where I thought "It won't reach us." (I was obviously wrong.) That year, I was turning 20 and my family was planning to visit Disneyland. I had never been there and was very excited! But fate had other plans. Here's how my mom and I Disneyfied our house and made the best of a bad situation. Enjoy!
So, instead of Disneyland, we went for a Disneyworld vibe. My room was themed as Rock n Rollercoaster (with an acoustic guitar, neon signs, and records on the wall), my mom's room was Haunted Mansion, (with spooky candles, and Disney's signature haunted mansion jars), then for the hallway ceiling, we made a garland out of cut up pieces of colorful fabric to give Mount Everest vibes, and the living room was Magic Kingdom with Cinderella castle on the TV. But you can't have Disney without some good eats!
We made some of our favorites, the loaded tots and Peter Pan's float from Friar's Nook, the gloriously delicious All-American sundae from the Ice Cream Parlor, our ritual mac n cheese hot dog and breakfast pizza from the All-Star Music hotel, the Mint Julep and corn dog nuggets from Casey's corner, and of course dole whip. I also had a great time making my birthday cake. I used to love watching How to Cake IT on YouTube and decided to attempt Yolanda's vanilla cake. (Which was delicious!) Now I know it's not Disney themed, but for the design, I made Hagrid's cake he made for Harry in the Sorcerer's Stone. (Successfully I might add!)
Even though it wasn't Disneyland, we made it work. And honestly, we did a great job. It's such a fond and happy memory now. What about you? What did you make the best of in Covid? Let me know in the comments below. Until next time. Bye!
Lesson Learned: Try to make the best out of tough circumstances.
