Coffee, just coffee...

Here's another bite size story. Enjoy!
This story is about coffee. That glorious cup to wake you up or a ritual because you're habitual. (That was pretty good.) The smell of coffee makes me so happy. I started drinking "coffee" when I was around 6 or 7. There are air quotes because it was just a full cup of milk with a dash of coffee. I'd grown up watching my family drink and enjoy it, so I wanted in on (whispered voice, coffee.) Heck, I'm drinking an iced coffee as I'm writing this.
On with the story, my mom and I were heading home from a road trip, and we needed a little pick me up. We saw a new place and tried it. I can't remember exactly what I ordered, but I normally get a cold coffee so most likely that. They were delicious. As we were enjoying them, a little way down the road, we started to feel odd. The only word I can think of is, jittery. A bit shaky, head hurting, heart racing, sporadic. We were shocked at how off we felt, there was no warning, just bam you're riding the sugar high of super caffeinated coffee. I was tingly all over and talking a mile a minute. For some insight, caffeinated or decaf coffee usually makes my mom sleepy. She can drink a full pot and go right to bed. That's why this was so unusual. We both decided not to drink anymore, (for our sanity) and eventually it wore off.
Every time we pass one, we think about this moment and shudder. Needless to say, we have not had their coffee since and not sure we ever will. This is the craziest experience I've had with coffee but a few years after this, I found out that I'm definitely a decaf coffee drinker. Has this ever happened to you? Let me know in the comments. Until next time. Bye!
Fun Fact: The country that is number one for consuming the most coffee is Finland.
